This study found that obese children with these markers of inflammation, the rate of saturation of ferritin / transferrin (F / T) and absolute neutrophil count (ANC). Elevated levels of F / T began at the age of 6 years and the rise of the ANC at age 9.
According to the director of the study, “These findings were a surprise” for them.
The director explains that most adults understand that being overweight or obese is not good for them, but many are unaware that being overweight is also unhealthy for young children.
In the group of children who were tested, nearly 70 percent of them had a healthy weight, 15 percent were overweight, 11 percent were obese and 3.5 percent were extremely obese.
Among the largest age difference is even more marked.
The study concludes that the weight and elevated inflammatory markers are closely linked and that even in young children.
